I always try to apply an abundance mindset to everything I do. So for me, when it comes to body image and style it is about focusing on, celebrating and enhancing what I do have and love about my body rather than dwelling on what I don’t.

Loving your body and how you look and then projecting that happiness out into the world is not conceited or arrogant. In fact, in the absence of an over-inflated ego it can be seen as authentic, warm and inviting to others who seek inspiration on how they too can learn to feel as good about their own body as you do.
.
Don’t get me wrong, embracing your body and how it looks can be a long soul searching process. When I was younger, I was uncomfortable about the size of my bum and thickness of my thighs and felt awkward and shunned by the highstreet who didn’t seem to care about catering for it. Over time my discomfort changed to confusion – I didn’t understand the difference between dressing to draw attention to areas of the body and dressing to enhance it.
.
Decades on and my discomforts became my prized assets. I learnt to embrace my curves and bumps and understand how to use clothing to enhance the bits I love. I developed an accepting loving relationship with my body and came to realise that body confidence is like the kryptonite behind looking good and feeling stylish.

There’s something incredibly appealing about a person who knows they’re far from perfect but chooses to rock what they’ve got anyway. Even more appealing is the person who appears to do this effortlessly. By adopting a mental position of body abundance I’ve become more informed and able to make confident style choices. I better understand what shapes worked well with my body and equally able to admit what doesn’t with the same healthy enthusiasm.
